Moroccan Bliss...

I stumbled upon Berber Trading web surfing for Moroccan tea glasses.
I thought a "Moroccan Tea party" theme would be refreshing in our gift department last summer. In my findings, Berber Trading is the most reasonable and authentic source. There are other "Moroccan trading" companies, such as the the one Oprah plugged in an issue of her magazine. These are not original outfits and tack on a hefty exporting fee...or something? Berber trading is privately owned by people who adore hand picking beautiful objects threw their travels in Morocco.

I find myself ordering for our store all year round from Berber Trading.In summer, hand painted tea glasses. Fall holiday platters and adornments, traditional tea pots and pillows.
There website is like traveling to Morocco in itself.

MicA BaGs!

These are Mica Bags.........

These days I think were a little more hip to "Funky MaMa" bags!. There are alot of cool designs out there. Weather they are totally functional, stylish or trendy. These particular bags happen to be "One-of-a-Kind original!.

There is one pocket on each side to fit either a bottle or a sippy. The outside of bag is felted wool with soft flannel lining inside.
The 3 dimensional flower stems and leaves are the same felted wool in green.

This is for a binky or keys. you If you take a closer look,will notice an attached wool ribbon with a snap on the end pockets on the sides. These mimic the same size pockets on the outside. One more large pocket on inside.

Ties for pad are secured with grommets. You can't see it, but the fabric is quilted (similar to the handles in the first picture).

HeNNa TaTToo Candles/ Suculant Candles

Henna tattoo candles....what a find.......These marvelous candles come solid or hollow. No too are alike and they are extremely affordable.
These were a find from the N.Y international gift fair Summer 2006. Bedraggled and overwhelmed with more than me eyes could see. These were a whisper in my intuitive ear as i looked over my shoulder while heading for the exit of pier 94, Accent on design I believe. PotLuck Studio has an assortment of Linens, Quilts (spunky, fresh textiles) ceramics & candles. These candles really stood out as unique & original.
I've paired these Henna candles with Vance Kitira lily bulbs & succulent candles from Roost.
The sandstone trays & mini trays are also from Roost.
The copper Campo de Fiori vases left over from this summer fit nicely with this group and give this medley a "rustic, earthy, with a touch of contemporary bohemian" flair!

"All Life"

Wow! my first POSTING on my first BLOG. I'm new to this blog / my space / get your own air time on the web business. I do feel a calling. I'm finally taking my self serious in the business world. I come from an excessively "art world" past.
I grew up in the seventies/eighties. My mama was a potter. An, in the barn, throw'in pots on the wheel, kiln firing, hav'in Raku parties, potter. My pops, a revolutionary , own his own struggling business, solar homes builder. I went to an experimental alternative school with a community of other kids with artist parents. The family was a unit. We went on trips (the hands craft fair circuit...FINE ARTS hands craft circuit to be clear) slang'in pots from state to state in the sun man van. Mom, Me, my sister Maia and dad. Dad handmade all the display setups. This life was a step away from being a carny. Immersed in art. The, then as far as I knew, business of art. Gallery life, Art show life, community of moms crazy artist friends life, a "struggling artist" family life.
At some point in this blog I'll explain HOW I got to where I am now. .."THE OTHER SIDE!" (my second Saturn return cycle.)
I am now a buyer for a unique store in Vermont. I work with wholesale vendors, attend international gift shows, research like a mad woman on wheels, and deal directly with artists. Weather it be buying their wares or hanging there work in our store gallery. I have been learning as i go and will continue to learn...as i go. The "number" aspect of being a buyer blows my mind. Mark-up, margin, maintaining a general ledger, running movement reports. This is not something I went to school for. (I'm sure you gathered that by my atrocious spelling, It's phonetic...sound it out!)
I am in a very unique place!...In the MIDDLE. I see the perspective of artist/wholesaler...I see the perspective of merchant/retailer. I find most of the time being a buyer, you just have to roll tha intuitive dice!.
With all my findings my new digs is DESIGN. Conceptual design. Contemporary design. Funky design & everyday functional objects with the element of design. I will post my findings here in this blog. Things of beauty. Things of interest. Things to sell. Things to buy. So enjoy the ride...keep your eyez open!
